Ethel Mae Dixon was born on September 14,1923 in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late Mamie Hilton and Robert Dixon. She was the second oldest of four siblings Willie Dixon, Julius "Robert" Dixon, and Julia Dixon Futch all who preceded her in death. In 1950 Ethel moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she worked hard, raised four of her eight children and nine of her grandchildren.
