Rufus Jackson was born in Jefferson County Georgia to the parents of the late 0llie Ree Murray Jackson and Johnnie Jackson on June 26, 1945.
God called him to rest on May 19, 2022.
Rufus joined Stone Springfield A.M.E. Church in Stapleton, GA at an early age. He moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1981. He met and married the late Rosa Mae Barnes.
Rufus "Shawl and Going South" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends. He attended the Jefferson County Georgia School System. He worked for Georgia Tennessee Mining Company, Thermos King, and Broward Health Medical Center. Rufus' joy was playing his guitar and listening to Gospel music. He sang with several Gospel quartets.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Johnnie Hubert Jackson and James Thomas Jackson.
Rufus leaves to cherish his memories son, Rufus Jackson Jr. of Los Angeles, CA.; three sisters, Willie B. Brooks of Louisville, GA., Ada Dawkins of Hallandale, FL and Carrie Brown of St. Petersburg FL. Four brothers, Willie James Oliphant (Carrie) of Fort Lauderdale, FL., Albert Jackson of North Augusta S.C., Robert Jackson (Queen Esther) of Madison, AL., and Willie L. Jackson (Carolyn) of Wrens, GA. Dedicated and close friends Charlie and Shirley Gibbons of Fort Lauderdale, FL., his special friend Lillian Lake, Fort Lauderdale., FL., and a host of Nieces and Nephews, relatives and friends.
