Louis LaCroix (aka Dotan) was born on March 27th, 1951 to Yaya Louis and Prezimeau LaCroix in Saint-Louis du Nord, Haiti. He was the 7th of 10 children. His siblings were Antoine, Esperandi, Louise-Anne, and Lesero just to name a few. His parents were farmers. Growing up in Haiti, Louis went to school and valued education very much but unfortunately, when his mother passed away, he was no longer able to go to school.
Attempting to make a better living for his future, he traveled to the Bahamas and became a father to Guilene and Jacques LaCroix. He also became a father figure to Niki Lacroix; one of his nieces. He lived in the Bahamas for a while along with his close first cousin, St. Louis “Ti’Boule” LaCroix. Louis and Ti’Boule helped their children, and many family members gain residence in the United States; paving the way for them to have a good future. Both men were well-respected and established patriarchs in the family.
Louis traveled to many places including Haiti, the Bahamas, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, and more. In 1980, he became a father to Durrun Delhomme. A few years later, he married Pierrisena LaCroix, and Louiveste and Nancy LaCroix was born in Saint-Louis du Nord, Haiti afterward. Louis traveled back and forth and worked very hard to gain US citizenship for his wife and children so they can have a better future; that is exactly what he did. His final occupation before retiring was a taxi-cab driver. In 2001, his youngest child Mathieu LaCroix was born. Louis ensured his family was well taken care of and enforced education on his children; something he always valued. He continued to provide for many people and their families, always supporting and giving to them whenever they were in need. Louis was a great father, friend, advisor, uncle, grandfather, great- grandfather, and so much more. Louis Saint LaCroix made an impact on many lives and he will truly be missed.
