Joe Lewis Roberts was born March 25, 1951 to the late Theodore Byford and late Carrie Bell Howard in Monticello, Fl.
He later moved to Fort Lauderdale with his grandparents the late Mr. Eugene Roberts and the late Mrs. Alberta Roberts. After God called his grandparents home he was then raised by the late Isiah and Berdine Jones. Joe attended school here in Ft. Lauderdale, Dillard High School.
His brother the late Grant Howard and two very special cousins preceded him in death, James Loggins and Benjamin Loggins whom he was raised with.
Joe was a member of Williams Memorial CME Church since childhood. He was on the Stewards Board, a faithful choir member, a Sunday School Teacher, and involved with various ministries over the years until his health began to fail.
He leaves to mourn: a loving Wife of 38 years Mrs. Loretta Curtis Roberts, 4 stepchildren: Lauretta (Aaron) McDougle, Shanta Young, Terrance (Kenisha) McDougle, and Edward (Shay) Whitfield; He was the grandfather of 13 Grandchildren, and 26 Great Grandchildren whom he loved very much. He also leaves 2 Sisters: Mary Redden (Edward), Martha (Robert) Greer; 2 very special cousins: Queen Loggins and Lucious (Olivia) Loggins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
