Our Gentle Giant
Jerry Jerome Chance was born November 21,1957 in Fort Lauderdale Florida to the loving parents of Mr. Jerry Rhodes Chance and Mrs. Fannie Mae Chance. He was the first-born son of six children. He transitioned peacefully on January 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry will be remembered as a devoted father, gentle soul and a true protector of those he loved.
Education and Career:
Jerry attended Fort Lauderdale High School and went on to become a Certified FDOT Asphalt Inspector. He paved a lot of the highways that we drive on today as he would often remind us. Jerr y took pride in his work, demonstrating diligence and professionalism in every task. He later retired but came back to work as a crossing guard, which he loved to do as well.
Family
Jerry met the love of his life Michelle M. Chance and raised three beautiful children, five grandkids, two great grandkids. He was like a father figure to many nieces and nephews and a big brother to his siblings. He had a gift for socializing and connecting with others, brightening every room he entered with his warm smile and kind-hearted nature. His family meant the world to him, and he was the first to offer guidance, support, and unconditional love. Jerry ‘s gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Chance-Mathis

Chance Jr., Grandchildren: Shania Chance, Ramie Eckford, Kelvin Burroughs, Naudia Parchment, Christopher Blackman, Great Grand Children: Ra’Miyah Eckford, Ja’kel Burroughs Siblings: Lila, Sonia, Tommie Lee, James and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, family and loved ones.
